Four routes most travellers ask for. Each one is a starting point: change the stops, timing or vehicle and we quote for your exact plan. Fixed prices are not published because they depend on date, vehicle and route.
01 · Half or full day
Jaisalmer local sightseeing
A car and driver for the main sights of the Golden City, at your own pace.
Typical stops
Jaisalmer Fort
Patwon ki Haveli
Salim Singh ki Haveli
Gadisar Lake
Bada Bagh
Vyas Chhatri
Monument entry tickets are usually paid on site. We confirm what is included in your quote.
Start early at Jaisalmer Fort, before the lanes fill with visitors and the sun gets strong. Visiting hours for the Jain temples inside the fort are limited, usually in the morning, so check on the day and plan them first. From the fort, walk or drive to Patwon ki Haveli, a cluster of five merchant mansions, and Salim Singh ki Haveli nearby.
Break for lunch and a rest in the hottest part of the day. In the late afternoon, visit Gadisar Lake, then finish at Bada Bagh, with its royal cenotaphs, or Vyas Chhatri for sunset over the city. A half-day option covers the fort and havelis only.
Jaisalmer to the Sam Sand Dunes: timing
Most travellers leave Jaisalmer in the early afternoon. Kuldhara, the abandoned village, is roughly on the way and makes a good stop of 30 to 45 minutes. The Sam dunes are roughly 40 km from the city, so you arrive with time to walk, ride or simply sit before sunset.
After sunset you can return to Jaisalmer in the dark, which takes around an hour, or be dropped at a desert camp for the night. If you are staying at a camp, tell us and we will coordinate timings with the camp.
Tanot and Longewala: what the day looks like
This is a long day, so an early start is essential. The drive heads north-west through open desert toward the India–Pakistan border region. Longewala is known for the 1971 battle fought there, and the war memorial displays vehicles and equipment from that period. Tanot Mata Temple, further along, is associated with the 1965 and 1971 conflicts and is looked after by the Border Security Force.
Facilities along the route are sparse, so carry water, snacks and sun protection. Every traveller must carry original photo ID. Access beyond certain points is controlled and rules can change; we check the current situation before your trip. Expect to return to Jaisalmer by evening.
Multi-day Rajasthan routes
A car with a driver from Jaisalmer gives you flexibility to stop where you like. Common routes include Jaisalmer to Jodhpur and on to Udaipur, or Jaisalmer to Bikaner and then Jaipur. Some travellers prefer a one-way drop to their next city; others plan a loop that returns to Jaisalmer or ends at an airport.
For multi-day trips, the driver usually stays in the same town as you each night. Driver allowances and any overnight charges are shown in your quote. Tell us where you plan to stay and how many hours you are comfortable in the car each day, and we will suggest a realistic route.

Stops you can add
Any package can be adjusted. Popular additions near Jaisalmer include Amar Sagar lake and its Jain temple, the old Jain temples at Lodurva, the ruined Khaba Fort, and the quieter dunes at Khuri. Let us know what interests you and we will fit it into the day if timings allow.
How to request a quote
Use the Request a quote button on any package or send us a WhatsApp message with your date, pickup point, number of travellers and luggage, and any stops you want to add. We reply with a suggested vehicle and an itemised quote. There is no obligation until you confirm.
Combining two packages in one trip
Many travellers combine local sightseeing with the Sam Sand Dunes tour on the same day: fort and havelis in the morning, rest at midday, then the drive to the dunes in the afternoon. It makes for a full day, but it works well if you only have one day in Jaisalmer.
Others spread the same stops over two days, adding Gadisar Lake and Bada Bagh at a slower pace. Tell us how much time you have and we will suggest the better split.
Sunrise and early-morning options
Some travellers want to see the fort in first light, or be on the dunes at sunrise before the day heats up. Early starts are possible on any package; just request a pickup time when you book. Early mornings are especially worth considering in April, May and June.
What to carry on a Tanot–Longewala day
This is the longest of our standard day trips, and services along the way are limited.
Original photo ID for every traveller
Plenty of drinking water
Snacks or a packed lunch
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
A light jacket in winter
Cash for small purchases
A charged phone and power bank
Photography along the routes
The road to Sam passes open scrubland, villages and occasional herds of camels or goats. Ask your driver to stop where it is safe to do so. At Kuldhara, the ruined houses photograph well in low afternoon light. Near the border, follow any signs restricting photography around military areas, and ask your driver if you are unsure.
One-way drops and airport connections
Multi-day packages do not have to return to Jaisalmer. Many travellers end in Jodhpur or Udaipur and fly out from there, or connect to a train. If your trip ends at an airport or station, share the departure time so we can plan the final day to leave enough margin.
Changing a package after booking
If you want to add a stop, change the date or swap vehicles after confirming, contact us as early as possible. Small changes are usually easy to accommodate. Larger changes may affect the quote; we will tell you the difference before making any change, so there are no surprises at the end of the trip.
Choosing the best vehicle for each route
For local sightseeing, a sedan is usually enough for two to four people, since you spend most of the day on foot and the drives are short. For the Sam Sand Dunes tour, the same applies, though an SUV gives more room if you are carrying bags for a camp night.
For Tanot–Longewala and multi-day Rajasthan routes, the hours in the car add up. An SUV or MUV makes long days noticeably more comfortable, particularly for families or anyone who needs to stretch out. Groups larger than seven should consider a tempo traveller so everyone can ride together.
How long each package takes
Local sightseeing runs as a half day, covering the fort and havelis, or a full day that adds the lake and a sunset point. The Sam Sand Dunes tour typically runs from early afternoon until after sunset. Tanot–Longewala is a full day, starting early and returning in the evening. Multi-day routes depend on the cities you include and how many hours you want to drive each day. Exact timings are confirmed in your quote.
Local knowledge on the road
Drivers who know the region can point out things you might otherwise miss: a village well, a field of desert crops after the rains, a good tea stop on a long drive. If you are curious about something along the way, ask. Most drivers are happy to share what they know, and a stop for chai can be a welcome break on a long route.
Travelling light on day trips
For day packages, leave your main luggage at the hotel and bring a small bag with water, sun protection, a scarf, a warm layer in winter, your ID and some cash. Keeping the car uncluttered makes getting in and out at each stop easier, particularly on the Tanot–Longewala route, where you will stop several times.
